Julie Marder Marks

Senior Counsel

I am an attorney by training and an advocate by nature. My work has always centered on children and families, and on making complex legal, medical, and financial systems more accessible to the people who must navigate them.

My career has wound throughout the country's healthcare and legal landscape. I practiced healthcare law at two of the nation's leading law firms, where I had the privilege of representing families championing their children's rights under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. I went on to guide one of the country's leading health insurers in implementing the patient protections required by the Affordable Care Act, and to advocate for physicians and the patients they serve with the American Medical Association. Inspired by my own family's experience, I have also advocated before federal regulators for improvements in food safety and maternal healthcare.

The foundation for this work was laid earlier, in years spent caring for and teaching young children, which introduced me to the world of neurodiversity and led me to study psychology as an undergraduate.

I come from a long line of public school teachers, chief among them my father, who devoted his career to seeing the best in his students and helping them thrive. Long before "body doubling" had a name, he and I discovered that our minds worked best side by side: I helped him grade papers, and he helped me study. The curiosity, empathy, and integrity I absorbed from my family grew into a commitment to standing up for equity and truth as a healthcare-focused attorney.

Joining McBride Law brings my professional path full circle, uniting everything I have learned in service of the families I represent, including my own. Speaking as one parent navigating the intersections of healthcare and education to another, my goal is to remove as many barriers from your path as I can, so you can focus on loving and caring for your child, and yourself.
